Clapotis est fini!*

There was a little bit of nail biting and praying for good yarn karma while I was finishing this last night, watching the teeny ball of silken get smaller and smaller, worrying there wouldn't be enough. Turned out there was even a bit extra when I finished this lovely silky scarf.

I have a new favourite garment--I'm wearing it right now. It's warm and soft and drapey and the colours are so yummy. No photograph will capture it here, just take my word for it, it's purple and blue and luscious.

The nifty thing about this scarf is that it wants to wind up into a tube and stretch out lengthwise to wrap around your neck.

But if you give it a good stretch and a shake it becomes a parallelogram that makes a wonderful stole, perfect for the proverbial black dress, or fancy pants outfit (though a hoodie and cords will have to do for the photo shoot).

I used Fleece Artist Silken to make this, and I made a few modifications. It's a 100% silk dk and at 500m is a bit shorter than the required Lorna's Laces. I used a 4mm needle and made it 95 sts wide. I also made it one 12 row repeat longer than the pattern (to account for the smaller) gauge and it all worked out with a bit to spare. And it ended up being very similar to the schematic so I'm good with that. I'm thinking I might use Fleece Artist Lady Godiva and make another one. It's the same blend as the Lion and Lamb and feels very nice. I already know my mother will want one when she sees it this weekend. And, my Memere will be sorry she didn't decide to use this for a Charlotte's Web.

And did you notice my nifty new ring?

It was a graduation gift from Carolyn and I love it! She sent me an S tile stitch marker too which is my new favourite knitting gadget. Thanks a ton Carolyn. Goodies in the mail are always fun.

*I'm sure the grammar isn't right on that--my apologies to the French language

Wow, Steph, is that gorgeous! I cannot wait to receive the non-LL yarn (alpaca) I ordered for this project ~

Grammar is perfect though you could have said LE clapotis est fini! LOL! ;) This weekend I kept going back to the Lady Godiva at Romni to make a Clapotis but the colors just didn't suit me. Now I feel even worst 'cause you'll make one with this great oh so soft yarn! ;)

hugs, great to see you online. :)

Gorgeous. And, having seen it in person, I covet it even more! So tempting...

Love the Clapotis!! The colorway is really wonderful. It's so on the holiday list now!

oh, it looks beautiful! great job. lovely color choice. i just picked my yarn for clapotis at knit happens today. i can't wait to get started.

Fabulous! And great on you! Hope you get lots of wear out of it.

The stole possibilities are a good idea - really nice yarn choice there as well. You posted a yarn inquiry on another site - about Aurora 8, etc. Have you considered Bendingo Wool from Australia? The construction of the yarn is similar and they have it in a couple of weights. Email me if you can't find them and want to check more throughly.
