Ketchup
My internet is back and I feel a lot less discombobulated (undo pericombobulations is a phrase we use around the house, but I couldn't work it in here--see Blackadder III). Life is still unsettled, but since I feel like blogging today, doing some catch-up is a fine place to start.
The diamond fantasy shawl is coming along nicely. The sea silk is yummy, the beads are sparkly and the pattern is lacey--very captivating.
We've also been experiencing some weirdness around that ball of red Canadiana acrylICK that Emma was knitting her scarf with. Apparently it compels people to knit with it:
Yup, that's Craig knitting. He just picked up the yarn and needles Emma left out and started. He did a backward loop cast on (that he just figured out) and then got knitting. He watched me a bit and then started purling. Sometimes he twisted stitches, but in the end his square had a nice even tension.
In the end he ripped it all back and put it away. I've casually asked if he wants to knit something (while I was mwah ha hahahahahing in my head), but so far he hasn't said yes. I should start leaving out nicer yarn.

Diamond Fantasy is gorgeous.
Hmmm...I doubt leaving yarn around that house would produce any random knitting in my family, but that would be really cool!

I'm loving how your Diamond Fantasy Scarf is turning out, very, very pretty. I might need to pick mine up again and work on it.

Oh my goodness. Your shawl coming out is fantastically gorgeous. It's going to be incredible.

*gigglesnort* I can see my husband doing that. I've not actively tried to teach him to knit but I catch him staring on a regular basis and I'm sure he's got the basics down by now.

Hi,
I had to teach my husband needle point one winter becuase he kept picking up my things and wrecking them. It was quite a site to see that winter, the two newly weds and the his and hers thread boxes!

I'm thinking that yarn that would appeal to a man might be different than what would appeal to your or me. Not the soft, squishy, sproingy stuff we like; something more rugged, like an Aran tweed or sturdy wool worsted. Even Cascade 220 as long as it was in A Manly Color, like brown or gray. Good luck!

The shawl looks positively beautiful and I'm so jealous about knitting with the seasilk. I haven't yet tried it, but it sounds incredible. Sounds like Craig is a natural! Nice tension on his swatch too. I'm willing to bet that he'll pick it up again. :)

I used to think it would be wonderful if my husband took up knitting...oh all the yarn adventures we could plan! Then I thought about what happens to my yarn and needles when my daughters dig in and am grateful he is into woodworking.

DFS is stunning!! LOL - I love the idea of leaving out little yarn traps...

oh my word that shawl pattern is gorgeous and the yarn looks out of this world...
congrats to have a new partner in crime to share yarn with!

Wow--that's pretty darned impressive knitting for someone just picking up the yarn and needles!

maybe i could get away with doing that with my hubbie? nah, i don't think it will happen.

will you have to share your stash?

That is one stunning shawl! Wow the guy bakes pies and knits too. He's a keeper.

I am also holding out hope for the spousal muggle, but mine is only at the asking questions stage. (Good point, Vanessa - I don't want to share my stash!)

"No," he says, all the while plotting how to nab the nicer stuff from your stash.
I love the shawl.

Ahem. "undue pericombobulations".

Leave him something good. He won't be able to resist.
Great shawl. :)

Wow to the Diamond Fantasy! Will it take only one skein of Sea Silk (I keep eyeing mine in the stash, but don't have a project for it yet)?
As for hubby knitting? If I left out yarn in my condo all that would happen is emergency visits to the vet hospital. Saru-chan is a rascal.

Oops, spelling error, causing undo pericombobulations.

Now I'm wondering if the reason behind the tangled messes I have everywhere is that Spiff has been trying to knit behind my back, just to "see if he can do it"....
That's some fine knitting, there. Maybe he should pinch knit on a few sleeves, eh?

Your shawl is looking great - I'm working with the sea silk right now too and am loving it. Beautiful shawl as well. I can't wait to get my hands on some of that lovely yarn.

I just started Diamond Fantasy last night! And.. I almost made it with my gorgeous sea silk bought yesterday, as well.
But the sea silk is so pricey and special, so I can't knit with it yet.
I using Jaggerspun Zephyr in Ice Blue. It's a very pretty color.
What size needles are you using. I started with 5s, switched to 4s (first time trying addi lace needle and it is fabulous!) and then decided perhaps size 3 would be better.
I didn't do any swatching or ripping. I'm only up to row 40, so I figure the changes in gauge won't really show up.
(I didn't realize it would be so exciting to find someone knitting what I'm knitting when I'm knitting it. Yes, I have heard of KALs. Have even tried them. But this is different.....

I don't know if you really should encourage the Craig to knit. Before you know it, you're needles stash will be his. (been there done that)

Is just some sting and a bunch of knots...
