While I love love love playing with all the yarnie goodness at Rhinebeck, I really go because of the people I get to see. My people. The ones who are as enthusiastic about yarn and knitting as I am and who don't think I'm a bit weird and all that.
Hell, we even dress alike. There were Danskos and Keens everywhere (they're good for showing off your socks).
Mine are the black ones with the stripey socks. Next are Jacquie's and the brown ones are Jess'. She not only runs Ravelry and is awesome, she has 3 pairs of Marcelle Danskos (red ones even).
And Jess and her crew throw a great party I'm told. We arrived a tad late after our distrust of google maps led us on a country drive and then a town drive and then a drive all over the universe. We did find the party, had a beer with the Ravelry-ers and did the Sunday meet up. It was great. You can see Jess' photos here, I forgot to take some.
I spent Saturday with my friends Laura, Keri and Emily and ran into Claudia (who I didn't talk with for long enough), Laura, Michelle (I totally *need* to visit you!), Steph, Juno, J and her "ready for Nascar tire changing crew" and a whole bunch of other people I'm not remembering.
Sunday there was more hanging with The Knitters topped off by a lovely end of the afternoon merlot (they were out of beer!) with Rachael, Maia, Brooke, Alison, Veronik, and other people I'm forgetting and I apologize to you all.
But you can see we're very happy when we're together.
And so sad when we have to say goodbye.
The day ended with a great dinner in Red Hook with Brooke, Maia, Rachael and Keri. And everyone offered a place to stay and each other's homes should A Knitter be in their neighbourhood. It felt like summer camp but with better food, wine and yarn.

So glad you had a good time! I am sad to have missed all the fun, especially that Ravelry party. Maybe next year.

Great pictures and a great description of the joy of knitterdom friendships. I love the shoe shot - I started buying keens for EXACTLY that reason - to show off the handknits socks.
Happy knitting!

I have questions!
Did you need a passport and did you get nailed for duty/taxes when you came back?
I dream of going to this . . maybe some day!
