Roam(ing) Around the Earth (Stripe Wrap)

My predictions of having Roam to wear by the weekend went awry.  I love the look of attached i-cord, but I don't seem to be so good at attaching it.  One the first attempt one side was longer than the other, so I tried a new stitch picking up tactic (ie paying more attention to the stitches I pick up) and now they look the same.

I'm giving them a wet block just to set everything right and then I'll be joining Emily (also making Roam) and Keri (Central Park Hoodie) in a little zipper sewing party later in the week.  Coincidentally, we all used Briar Rose yarns, so we all have very pretty sweaters too.

I believe this is the first time either of them has sewn in a zipper and I surprised myself when I went into the cedar chest and found five sweaters with zippers.  In fact, I don't own a cardigan with buttons.  I've made some, but haven't kept any.  Weird, especially since I hate to sew.

I'm not spending this waiting time idly.  Earth Stripe Wrap is back in production and I'm trapped in that gorgeous halo of Kid Silk Haze again.

I love Roam and I love the colour of the yarn. I want to get mine started soon. Do you think I could knit the i-cord while knitting the front pieces?

Earth Stripe looks so cozy. I broke down and bought the yarn for modern quilt wrap. I had no choice, they were discontinuing one of the colours. Guess I didn't need to buy all the yarn for it did I??

I love the cardigan!

Is sewing in a zipper hard? I have been tempted to knit normal button bands (without the holes) and then sew in a zipper to get back the inch or so of overlap. It just seems like it would be a good way to better fit to size a garment where you are just a little bit bigger than the size you want to make.

Roam really looks fabulous, and I can't wait to see it modeled. I love zippered cardigans, but I'm not fond of sewing in zippers. I do enjoy making buttons, though, so I am making more buttoned ones.

I had the pleasure of meeting an Earth Stripe wrap in person recently and had to resist the urge to "accidentally" walk off with it. I love the weight and drape of it, not to mention the amazing color combinations.

The Briar Rose yarn is stunning knit up. My ESW is still in the stage of potential (read: yarns in a bag in my study), but if I'm going to have any reason to wear it this year it better move past the theory stage pretty soon.

I've always taken my zippered sweaters to the tailor for the zippers to be sewn in. It took some time to find one that does it, but he charges ten bucks, and saves me all manner of stress, and cursing.
I hate sewing. or it hates me, i'm not sure.
