Starting a weekend with a snow day can only mean good things

Friday was a Snow Day.  On Thursday when we heard that snow was coming we all wished that Friday would be a snow day.  Emma and Xander has plans for snow forts, I had plans for fire places and knitting and sleep.

Friday morning didn't bring the snow day, even though it was snowing.  So we trudged off to school and work.  By 9:30 I received official word that the University was closing at 11:00, and was out by noon.  Funny thing was, the snow wasn't all that bad; not bad enough to close a university, and not bad enough to close the schools--they were still open.   This means I had an even better snow day since it gave me something I never have a lot of: time.  So I headed off to do some shopping and relax on my own until I got word that school was closed.

By 2pm I had the kids and we walked home and played on the way.  Then we shovelled and built this:

Later, once the kids were in bed (they were exhausted from all the playing) I got my knitting and fire.

Saturday I had a knitting adventure, but I'm saving that story for another post--it totally deserves one of its own.

Today was a more usual Sunday, some shopping (we bought our fridge!), some cooking (I made a real dinner!), some cleaning and some loafing.  At around 8pm I found out I came in Second for the Best Activities Blog, coming behind my same-named knitting pal and humourist of our craft the Yarn Harlot (who I always knew would be first).  Thanks so much for voting for me; I really do appreciate it.

Check out the "awards presentation" it's very cute.  The organizers have been doing a great job and are rolling out the awards over the next week.

What a great snow photo! I love how the snow is falling.

Congrats on the Canadian Blogger Award!! That's so cool!

Congratulations and felicitations and all that!

That's a fantastic snowman. What are you using for the buttons and face details?

And congrats on your award!

Congratulations! Both to the kids on their fabulous snowman and to you on your award. :-)

Congratulations!

Every year, I plan to build a snowman, and it never happens. Might have something to do with the lack of enthusiastic children willing to help me... :)

Great snowman! I've never managed to build one. As a kid, I never lived where there was snow, and when I grew up and moved to where it did snow, I was shocked at how much work it is to build a snowman.

Congratulations on the award--second to the Harlot Herself is pretty darned good!

I just found your blog (courtesy Yarnharlot) - I like the snowman! May I recommend another blog? I don't have one, but I like this one: barbararochester.blogspot.com/. Especially if you like cats and Bassets with your knitting. Congrats on the award - I can see why.

That snowman is Wayyyyyy.

Congratulations Steph!

Congratulations!

Congrats!

I always say I would like a snow day, but I don't think I would get that much more done with the blank canvas. I would probably dither too much about all of the things I could be doing.

An award is definitely a day-brightener. Congrats!
