How did I fall in love with a $325 coat?
(peak at more photos here: http://takemorephotos.com/2007/10/29/gsus-on-the-runway/ you need to scroll a bit).
A shop I walk by every day has this coat in the window. It's a cut like a basic black trenchcoat but has this nifty flower print on it.
I like flowers.
When I stood back to look at it, I noticed that some of the flowers form skulls.
I like skulls.
I love this coat. I google but don't find much (the brand is Gsus sindustries--unknown to me since I'm hardly a fashionista) . Then I call the store and ask how much.
$325.
Shoot.
It would have looked crappy on me anyway.
Maybe it'll go on sale.

Isn't it funny when synchronicity hits like that? Flowers and skulls in a not-goth way? Give yourself a week. If it's still hounding at you that you.must.have.it, then go for it. You saved all that money on a new iPod, right?

A word of advice....do NOT "just try it on". Because if you do, you will HAVE to buy it. this has happened to me with pair of ridiculously expensive boots. But it IS a very spiffy coat.....

I love that coat! It looks like something one of my skinny minny friends would look terrific in (aka, less terrific on me). (I refuse to drool over this coat. It's not even in the same country I'm in.)

Hmmm...this is where I would start justifying the buy to myself. For example, a new pair of designer eye glasses may cost $$$, but if I were to wear them every day for 2 years then maybe it is not so bad? How many years would you wear they coat? Are you hard on your clothes?

Crap - I totally love that coat.
At least I've got the fallback position that it would never be available in a plus-size.
Then I can rationalize the disappointment. :-)
(you should definitely stalk it for when it goes on sale)

You wouldn't wear it with just culottes and drape yourself on a bike would you?
Think of all the yarn that money could buy......
