Yarn: 1 Skein Noro Silk Garden (I used colour 84)
Needles: 4.0mm dpns
Gauge: 4.75 sts/7 rows= 1 inch
Size: fits 21" head--knit to a tighter gauge for a closer fitting hat
Cast on 96 stitches, join in round
Work 1.5 inches in 2X2 ribbing
Change to Stst and knit in rounds until hat measures about 5 inches from beginning.
Decrease as follows:
K2tog, Knit 6, repeat to end (84sts)
knit one round
k2, k2tog repeat to end (63) sts
work 3 rnds
k1 k2tog repeat (42sts)
work 3 rnds
k1 k2tog repeat (28 sts)
work 1 rnd
k2tog repeat (14 sts)
work 1 rnd
k2tog repeat (7 sts)
Cut yarn leaving a long tail--thread the tail through remaining stitches, pull them closed and secure. Weave in ends.
